Specialised Canvas was originally founded to serve the transport industry. We service the industry with a range of heavy duty covers, originally specifically within the coal sector. Wherever goods are moved on a vehicle, whether road, rail, water or air they need to be secured to prevent damage in transit and covered to protect them from the weather.
Here at Specialised Canvas we acknowledge the requirements of every customer are different so we endeavour to tailor our products to your exact needs. We work with a range of materials and colour palettes as well as having a wealth of experience to advise you upon the best canvas solution. Bespoke, tailored and unique covers represent our origins. Our history is distinguished by manufacturing bespoke covers, advising on design, seams. threads, needle sizes & accessories with the objective of providing a suitable and ‘fit for ‘purpose’ product.
Much of the process involves talking with you the client and sometimes having to work very closely to provide the desired end result.
A cover is a really important consideration to ensure your pride and joy is protected from the elements. The covers can be designed to fit over the entirety of your boat or specific elements or areas. For example, we have previously fitted bespoke motor covers to protect the vital area of the boat.
The boats cover should be designed to protect the vessel from the elements when stationary or in transit. That’s why we design our covers to fit snuggly, often using bungee cord to ensure a tight yet easy to use cover.
With so many boats on the market each cover presents alternative challenges. The beauty of how Specialised Canvas operates means we will design and make a cover for your boat, to a specification that suits you. These covers are an investment, just like the boat itself, we manufacture the covers to last and have a repair team ready should any accidents or weathering occur to your cover.
Our covers are widely manufactured from PVC coated polyester materials. This is due to the materials excellent levels of durability and value for money. A boat cover is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to the sun and be shaped to ensure that it sheds the rain and doesn’t allow standing water to accumulate.
Camper Conversion ‘pop up’ roofs and Specialised Canvas are synonymous. From the early days of the iconic Camper Van when the pop ups needed repairing and retrofitting to the modern day surge in popularity we have enjoyed making Camper Roofs.

Curtain sides have become the transport industry’s preferred way of protecting goods in transit. They are much quicker for the operator to use than individual flat sheets and provide a large dry volume of palletised goods which are to be transported on the back of vehicles. They can range in size from ‘transit’ sized vehicles up to full 40ft Trailers. These curtain sides are generally manufactured from 900gsm super-heavy duty PVC.
We can supply curtains for new vehicles or replacements for existing sides, we have all the relevant fittings available, these are compatible with all the leading truck manufacturers. If you have an alternative fitting requirement we will endeavour to find a workable solution for your needs.
Lorry sheets are a similar concept however these are designed to fully cover cargo. The sheet is placed over the item to protect it from the weather and any damage whilst in transit. These large PVC sheets are finished with hems and eyelets to enable the user safely secure the large cover into position. These are bespoke to requirement mainly due to the variable sizes if you require additional details please contact a member of our team.
A custom made trailer cover by Specialised Canvas will be made exactly to your trailer’s dimensions, in any shape or size. Quality, long lasting covers can prevent the build-up and inevitable corrosion from road chemicals and extend the life of hence maintaining your investment.
Durable trailer covers are individually made to suit your trailer, whether a domestic trailer for your car or a larger cover for specialist horse or motor vehicle trailers. The individuality of the cover is significant in improving the longevity of the trailer itself. These covers also ensure the proper protection for any goods which the trailer may be transporting.
We appreciate that accidents can happen and general wear and tear/weathering can leave your cover requiring repair. Specialised Canvas offer a comprehensive range of repair solutions with the aim of extending the life of your sheets. We’ve seen it all from minor tears to comprehensive damage and we make it our mission to restore any item back to a serviceable condition.
We accept that often a vehicle cannot operate without its sheet or cover so we will always make sure you repair is carried out to an agreed deadline to avoid down time. Simply agree a period where you can manage without the vehicle and we’ll ensure you back on the road (water or rail) in time for your next appointment.
Ideally, we advise a drop-off and collection service to allow us to assess the extent of the repair and quote accordingly. We appreciate this is not always feasible but are happy to discuss a solution over the phone with the help of information from photographs.
