Bespoke Vehicle Awning

THE BRIEF

Our customer contacted Specialised Canvas to see if we could create a made-to-measure awning for his striking motorhome. The aptly-named Siesta presented a new challenge for our team as we restored the vintage motorhome to its former glory with a sturdy and attention-grabbing awning, whilst retaining the classic 1970s feel.

Although the fabric awning was long gone when our customer purchased the vehicle, he did importantly have the frame. Unfortunately, there was no pattern to work with but the client was kind enough to bring the vehicle in which gave us time and reassess measurements if we needed to rethink the fabrics covers design.

The SOLUTION

Using a print of what the Siesta would have looked like at its prime, our talented team of designers and machinists were able to create accurate technical drawings and produce a product that fits onto the 1970 Canterbury Siesta perfectly. From precise measurements, putting together prototypes, and learning more about 1970s vehicles than we initially thought too, the project is one of our most challenging to date.
