Polyester is an excellent multi-use fabric which we can recommend for many industrial and commercial applications. The weight of polyester is referred to as the ‘denier’ often expresses as ‘D’ this relates to the thread count and weave of the fabric with a larger number indicating a heavier material. Polyester can be combined with a range of coatings to create technical and high performance fabrics for many applications. These include PVC and Polyurethane coatings which give waterproof and durable finishes.
At Specialised Canvas we stock Polyester in a range of weights and colours. The most common requirements are 500D and 600D, we can also source lighter and heavier fabrics including Cordura finishes for very heavy duty applications.
The end used for Polyester fabrics are extremely diverse and we recommend it to many of our clients for applications including, Bags, Luggage, Canopies, Leisure products & Waterproof covers,
Polyester is available with fire retardant finishes and is also tested to give a rated waterproofness – also known as Hydrostatic Head.
We can provide polyesters which are suitable for printing or graphics application which is often a requirement of the finished product.

Nylon is perhaps one of the best known synthetic materials. It’s applications for technical textile products are wide ranging. Light weight and strength make it ideal for covering applications where covers need to regularly be removed and replaced. Nylon is suitable for outdoor use if well secured and fitted, also ideal for dust covers in industrial and commercial environments
Common uses include, Security (night) sheets for retail displays, tent fly sheets, equipment covers, Lightweight bags, and also used as a lining material or in combination with other material in many other products.
At Specialised Canvas we can provide a choice of weights and colours of nylon. Typically supplied with a polyurethane coating which provides waterproofing and UV ret ardency.
Standard weights 4oz & 7oz, we stock this material in a range of standard colours and can source many others to your requirements from a number of leading manufacturers.
