The potential threat of Pathogens became a great concern throughout the world in the 1960’s and 1970’s as a result of the Cold War. During the period a need for containment was evolved and Flexi Plastics (A trading arm of Specialised Canvas Services) became a pioneer in the use of High Frequency Welding. For many years an evolution of techniques and tooling has allowed us to manufacture Medical Isolator Products both for Containment and Research.
The FlexiPod™ envelope is at the heart of the Air Transportable Isolator (ATI) system and is used specifically by Aeromedical isolation teams to initially transport and transfer infected patients safely to larger hospital isolation units.
Developed under the direct instructions of the NHS and deployed worldwide by the Royal Air Force Tactical Medical Wing, the ATI is the principal method of safely repatriating or moving a casualty to the required place of treatment.
The envelope holds a bespoke stretcher and therapeutic equipment which allows medics to effectively care for the patient throughout the transportation phase of their treatment.
The experience, knowledge and tools that Flexiplastics has available allows the manufacture of totally bespoke plastic welded solutions for all types of Laboratory Isolators. Years of plastic welding experience means Flexiplastics are ready to adapt and manufacture bespoke, personalised products. We have recently added a CAD design facility, using SolidWorks which gives us greater drawing capability and efficiency. Now we can provide a three-dimensional simulation of the isolator for approval prior to patterns being sent to our automated cutter.
If you would like additional information on any of our bespoke solutions, please contact Flexiplastics by phone or email to discuss your laboratory requirements.
