A Sheffield based school set us a bit of a challenge ahead of the summer months. Mylnhurst Primary School required a covered space in a wooded area, but were keen not to damage the environment at the same time. Large structures weren’t going to be an option so the team set to work creating a shade sail.
The beauty of the shade sail solution is we were able to use the surrounding to mount a cover opposed to adding new additional structures. The selected trees were prepared and measuring up could begin. This proved the trickiest part, the trees were all totally different dimensions and cambers as well as the uneven ground. Thankfully, technology could intervene at this stage. The assistance of a laser measure and a bit of clever maths meant we could accommodate the various angles accordingly.
The sail itself is the easy bit a good strong heavy duty sheet with robust corner housings and super strength seams to ensure everything stays in position in all weather conditions. The delicate bit was positioning the straps and attachments at the right levels and location on the tree itself. Again a little help from the laser level and a marker pen was able to give us a helping hand.
We are pleased to say all the checking and double checking was worth it! The shade sail was very positively received by the school and we were very pleased to have been able to successfully measure up and install perfectly in this awkward location.
Banner Box sends its best wishes to the school and we are hopeful their new shade sail will encourage the use of the outdoor space and protect the area the school selected. Wonderful school to work with and we keep our fingers crossed they might even require an additional shade sail in the future.
