Union Jack Windscreen Shade

Further to our last blog post we have recently manufactured a wonderfully patriotic version of the windscreen covers. The Union Jack shade oozes characters and is great fun as well as ensuring the inside of the camper-van is protected from the sun.

These windscreen shades fit beautifully on VW camper vans which is why the Union Jack design seen here features the VW logo in the top corner. Volkswagen are still a bit of a market leader in the camper-van industry and this sector has being unaffected by the recent diesel “low emissions” campaign which has ravaged the company’s reputation.

The camper-vans have being a great success for VW, but our client spotted a flaw and that is how we ended up manufacturing these windscreen covers. Although sleeping in the vans is wonderfully comfy… if you are a light sleeper like me then there is a problem getting a good night’s sleep. The vehicles windscreen, the amount of light which comes though lights up the interior of the van making it seem too bright for sleeping.

The solution, what we can only describe as a blackout blind for a camper-van! The cover fitting over all the front windows and keeping the early morning light out. It’s a simple idea which is proving very successful.

Manufacturing the shades we had some issues to think about. Mainly the material, considering the shade is fitted to the van externally. The fabric needed to be of thick denier to stop light coming through but also not too heavy if it was to get wet.

The big success here for us is the eye catching design, we appreciate it might divide a few opinions but we thought it looked great and send thanks for the picture. We also look forward to seeing the next vibrant design for us to manufacture.
